| I grew up in Las Vegas and spent my 13th birthday dinner at the El Cortez in 1973...yikes!
I wanted to go to the El Cortez for my 50th birthday for a taste of nostalgic Vegas.
My husband and I had a great stay. The staff was nice, the room clean and the bed comfy (with 4 pillows). As a flight attendant I have stayed in many hotels and would stay at the El Cortez again.
Dinner at The Flame was better in 1973, but I was more impressionable then...My steak was perfect, the service so-so. Fremont street is still the coolest street in Vegas and much better without all the cars cruising (like we used to do). Thanks for keeping the old in such good repair. |

| We went to Vegas for Christmas vacation. The rooms were big, two queens beds with sitting area. The only problem that we ran into was the there is NO WAY to control the temperature in either room. If you turn on the air - you get heat and it doesn't kick off. We had to find a happy medium which we did on the second night.
For the price it is a good place to stay and I would stay there again on my next visit to Las Vegas. |

| I originally booked a regular room there, nothing fancy, but inexpensive for the july 4th weekend, i was on a budget. upon checkin they upgraded me to a cabana suite (which doens't cost that much more anyways, i was just being cheap) and i was amazed. these are new units they have renovated in an appartment complex across the street from the main hotel. the main hotel is not bad, but the cabana suites were awsome. they have single and double deck black jack, two small but covered and relatively secure parking garages, but the downtown neighborhood is a little rough for my taste. you are safe if you stick to the main roads, it's just the "dark side" of vegas is a lot closer there than on the strip. it is old school vegas at a bargin price. |

| Parking garage view was right outside our door. For the price you can't beat this hotel. |

| Great room for the price, and area was very quiet. Make sure you pick the Cabana Suites. |

| First time at the El Cortez after many many years at another downtown Hotel..
Although the other hotel was fancier, I liked the El Cortez better. Bigger rooms, wonderfully friendly staff, good restaurants, and cheap gambling!!!
Would definitely stay in the Tower rooms again. |

| Old hotel, VERY smokey casino, clean but VERY tiny room, NOISY until late at night. Convenient parking and convenient to Fremont Street Experience. Price a bit high considering the above. |

| i was excited to go to this hotel since the reviews were so mixed. I wanted to be in the 'downtown' area so i could do some shopping at the Outlet stores in downtown. I've stayed at some of the other downtown Fremont area hotels before & the $$ paid here was definitely worth it! The room was as pictured (had a Tower room) if not better! The beds were comfortable & service wonderful! Onr of the Pit Bosses & his crew spent time teaching me the game of craps! It was great & i had lots of fun! The hotel is 1 short block to Fremont St. & the hotel had security on the corner which made feel safe (i traveled alone this time). Everyone was curteous, friendly & i would definitely go there again! |
