Please ignore the negative reviews. I have stayed in various hotels, ranging from 2 stars to 5. The staff is great, the rooms are comfortable. Was not expecting much but was satisfied with my stay. The people who write the bad reviews must be royalty, or think that they are, seriously, who goes to Vegas to sleep. I stayed in the Deluxe Room and it was a great deal. Don't waste your money on a pricey hotel, stay here and spend your money on all the other things you do in Vegas the 20hrs of the day you don't spend in the room!

At the moment, it is far away from other hotels on the strip. Give it a few years for updates and other construction and it will be fine - if they don't up the price.

I have stayed at Sahara in past and the hotel was in much better condition. Overall the condition has gone down. The staff is helpful though I would not say it was friendly. Hotel does need major renovation. We first got a room that had a clogged sink. Our room was changed immediately but shouldn't the house keeping be aware of it. They had put the sink stopper up on the counter, implying they were aware of the problem but the room was still being assigned to guests. I brought it to the notice of hotel registration, got a new room and to my surprise found that the room was assigned to another guest shortly. The location of the the hotel is not great except for going to Stratosphere and yes there are some eateries in the neighborhood. The neighborhood overall is not great, but that you would expect anyway when you are going to Vegas. A plus point is that Sahara has monorail station which makes it great. You can take the train to center strip and thus stay for cheap while being able to access the center strip/south strip (MGM) easily. Hotel rates are usually cheaper than most other hotels and that is why I say - you get what you pay for. Would recommend if you are planning a low budget trip and do not plan on being inside your room most of the time.

The Sahara is one of the older hotels on the North end of the strip. Considering the very low price we paid for the room, it ended up being as good as you can expect for about 1/5th the price of the Bellagio! The hotel was in reasonably good condition. The carpets were old but I didn't see any holes anywhere, the room was pretty clean (housekeeping didn't catch that some previous occupants dropped french fries between the bed and the night stand where a vacuum cleaner cannot reach and they were hard to see.) The shower did not drain as good as it should, the TV was something you probably donated to Good Will about 20 years ago (about 17 or 19 inch tube type), the channels on the TV were limited, unless you pay extra, Internet access was $12.99 per day - yes per day! Again - what do you think you are going to get for one of the cheapest deals in all of Las Vegas - the tiny Mom and Pop hotels on the out-skirts of town cost double what we paid at the Sahara. If you want a safe place that is really cheap - go for it. If you want upscale and are willing to pay for it - Las Vegas has it all.

I was there on business, so didn't really use the hotel amenities, but you can tell the hotel was old. The carpet was obvously dirty and looked liked the original carpet. Blankets felt old and non comforting. I would reccomend it if your only going to be using it for sleeping. I would not reccomend it for enjoyment or family trip.

Good location for the price. Great location for monorail to reach the rest of the strip and/or convention center. The in-house cafe was good for breakfast (like IHOP down the street, but less crowd). The one thing was I was charged a $6 "facility fee" per day on checkin - they said it was NV hotel tax, which should not have been right, as Hotels.com already charges this!

The Sahara is an 'older' hotel, but for the money, it's a really good value. The location and having the monorail nearby is an asset in getting to convention sites, etc.
