LAS VEGAS TIPS AND ADVICE CENTER
Fashion Outlets of Las Vegas
It seems the folks in Las Vagas really want you to have a good time. From gaming to spa treatments to shopping -- all without leaving the Strip. But just in case you do want to venture off the Strip for a little outlet shopping, some hotels have made it convenient for you to do that, too. Take the service offered by the Fashion Outlets of Las Vegas. They've teamed up with three of the major hotels on the Strip to offer a Shopper's Shuttle service with multiple rides to and from the Fashion Outlets. Here's how it breaks down:
  • The MGM Grand Hotel and Casino - Three morning and two afternoon shuttles, with five afternoon return shuttles.
  • Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood - One morning and one afternoon shuttle, with two afternoon return shuttles.
  • The Fashion Show - One morning and one afternoon shuttle, with two afternoon return shuttles.
Round trip tickets cost $15.00, which includes a complimentary Savings Book that has coupons worth over $800 in savings at the Fashion Outlet stores. You can get your tickets for the Shopper's Shuttle at any participating hotel's ticket desks.

Las Vegas Outlet Center
Located just 2.5 miles south of the Las Vegas Strip, the Las Vegas Outlet Center is a bargain-hunter's dream. With 130 outlet stores featuring brand names in housewares, apparel, children's items, luggage and more, this outlet center has pretty much everything you could want at discount prices, direct from the manufacturers.

It's already close to most hotels on the Strip, but the closest ones are the Marriott Courtyard, Hilton Garden Inn and Mandalay Bay. Wherever you're staying, getting to the Las Vegas Outlet Center is a snap. You can take the Strip Trolley, which heads to the mall every half hour and on the hour from 10am to 9pm, Monday through Saturday. On Sunday, it runs 10am to 8pm. The Trolley connects to Strip Loop at Mandalay Bay from 9:30am to 1:30am daily. The rates are $2.50 per trip, but you can get an all-day/convention pass for $6.50.

Las Vegas Premium Outlets
Located just off the I-15, and minutes from the Las Vegas Strip, the Las Vegas Premium Outlets are a great place to spend an afternoon shopping for high-end items at big discounts. Featuring 120 stores like Dolce & Gabbana, Ann Taylor, A|X Armani Exchange, Kenneth Cole, Lacoste, Theory and more, this outlet mall is a must-visit for the fashion conscious.

The mall is closest to the Main Street Station Hotel, but you can easily get transportation by car, limousine, trolley or bus. The Citizens Area Transit and the Downtown Transportation Center buses offer the Downtown Shopper's Express that runs daily from 10am to 5:15pm, stopping every twenty minutes.

Senior Discounts at the Outlets
Shopping at the outlet malls in Las Vegas is a sure bet for saving money. But if you're over 50 years old, you can get an even bigger discount. Both the Las Vegas Outlet Center and Las Vegas Premium Outlets stores have a program called, "50 Plus Shoppers Perks."

On Tuesdays, shoppers over the age of 50 receive an additional 10 percent off their purchases. There's nothing to fill out and no club to join. When you cash out at participating stores, all you have to do is show the cashier one piece of photo identification (passport, drivers license, etc.) that has proof of your age.

Shopping in Las Vegas
If you're staying in one of the many megaresorts Las Vegas has to offer, you'll probably be doing a lot of your shopping at the high-end retail stores within the resort. But if you're in the mood for a few bargains, Las Vegas has quite a few outlet shopping malls to visit.

Here are the top three outlet malls that are relatively close to downtown Las Vegas:

  • Las Vegas Outlet Center
  • Las Vegas Premium Outlets
  • Fashion Outlets of Las Vegas
Ask your hotel concierge for directions to any of these malls.

Shopping on the Strip
If you want to get a little outlet shopping done but don't want to leave the Strip, you're in luck. Las Vegas Outlet Center is located on the far south end of the Las Vegas Strip (and about 1.5 miles from McCarran International Airport).
Touted as "America's largest factory outlet mall," Las Vegas Outlet Center has 155 outlet shops, including Jones New York, Reebok, Esprit, Calvin Klein, Levi's and more. When you need a break from all the shopping, they even have two full-sized food courts and a carousel for the family to enjoy.

Bonus Tip: If the heat is getting you down, head over to Las Vegas Outlet Center. The entire 36-acre mall is climate-controlled.
