El Cortez, Las Vegas Overview
|
|
|
Old Vegas charm and hospitality are just two of the things you will love about the El Cortez. You’ll also enjoy a pretty, comfortable room and great food at very reasonable prices. You’ll know you made a great choice from the moment you step into the beautiful lobby. Once owned by Bugsy Siegal, the hotel/casino has been owned and operated by Mr. Jackie Gaughan since 1963. His philosophy has always been "Give the customers a good deal, and they’ll come back." So stay at the El Cortez and experience one of Las Vegas’ gems for yourself. The 2009 Las Vegas Review Journal "Best of Las Vegas" results are out. El Cortez was voted Best Downtown Hotel, Best Blackjack & Best Keno!
The El Cortez is located in downtown Las Vegas at Fremont St and Las Vegas Blvd (the Strip). The rooms are also elevator-accessible directly from the casino and offer smoking or non-smoking preference. These rooms have also been remodeled and beautifully furnished.
Tower Rooms were built in an expansion, bringing the total number of guest rooms to 299. Spacious and pretty, these rooms have a love seat, chair and coffee table sitting area by the window and offer one king or two queens and are non-smoking. The Tower is where the Handicap Rooms with 2 queen beds are located.

| El Cortez is a great place to stay for a family. It is only a 1 block walk to Freemont St. Experience. Using the valet service makes pick up and droop off a breeze. We used this hotel as a base and visited "The Strip" during the day and evening for shows. The hotel was clean and spacious our rooms had 2 queen beds, a writing desk, couch, and a safe along with the usual furnishings. This made it comfortable for all 5 of our family to hang out in one room. We did some gambling while there and won over $400. The hallways are short so there isn't a whole lot of foot traffic. There is a Subway in the lobby and a mini gift shop too. I would definitely recommend this hotel. |

| The first desk clerk needs more training, the toilet dripped constantly. The room was clean. The hotel was central to the Highways. Close to the Fremont Experience, Las Vegas Strip, and other tourist locations. |

| We were worried when we saw our room was right above the casino floor but there was no noise whatsoever, not from other rooms either except in the bathroom a little. Only thing I did not like particularly is that it was a walkup, one flight of stairs.
Lovely room with two huge beds. Would have liked a little fridge. Food was exquisite in the restaurant and our funbook gave us a discount on it too...
Nice! |

| When I first saw the price online I thought it must be in a terrible neighborhood and unclean, after reading many reviews my wife and I decided to take a chance. We were very pleased with the stay we had. I am not one to handout positive feedback when I receive poor service. On this stay the only thing I can think of that could be done better was the airport transportation. We had to take a $35 cab to the hotel but received a complementary limo drive back to the airport. I'm a little confused about that logic. This is the best value in a hotel that I have ever received. I've averaged about 25 nights per year for the last couple decades.
OUTSTANDING keep up the good work El Cortez!!! |

| I love the El Cortez Cabanas.. they're amazing. The renovations to the overall casino is fantastic and they're definitely trying to move away from what they used to be to something very much awesome. The front desk still treats the place like the old hotel though-rushed check in, keys that didn't work repeated visits to the front desk to fix the key problems. Guest services is amazing and the attendants in the Cabana Suites are fantastic. |

| The El Cortez is located downtown by the fremont experience, which is awesome because downtown has so much going on & is cheaper to eat, drink, etc. Also it is only 2 miles from the strip. Room was clean, had couch, t.v., fresh towels anything you need. |
