The Sahara Las Vegas Hotel and Casino located in Las Vegas, Nev. was among the first hotels built on The Strip. This property stands two miles from the Las Vegas Convention Center, downtown and the Fremont Street Experience. McCarran International Airport is five miles away.

Dining options include the House of Lords that serves steaks and seafood amid a baroque setting. The all-you-can-eat Sahara Buffet hosts champagne brunches on weekends. Paco's Bar & Grill prepares seafood and Mexican fare, while the NASCAR Café features chicken, ribs, steaks and burgers. Room service is available from 6 am until 10 pm daily. A business center contains three computer stations. The Destination Salon & Spa offers treatments such as Oxygen Facials, Shea Butter Scrubs with Aromatherapy and Paraffin Body Wraps. Glittering, larger-than-life gambling palaces dominate Las Vegas Boulevard South, better known as The Strip. Here, hotels are destinations unto themselves. Within a three-mile stretch, visitors can see the New York City skyline, the Eiffel Tower, an Egyptian pyramid, imperial Rome, a dancing fountain, and an exploding volcano. A monorail links several hotels and the Las Vegas Convention Center.

A sundeck, palm trees, and fountains surround the Sahara Las Vegas Hotel's 5,000-square-foot seasonal pool and adjacent spa tub. Poolside bar and towel service is available when the pool is open. The hotel's fitness center, located on the 27th floor of the Tangiers Tower, features a variety of equipment, including two treadmills, two elliptical machines, two recumbant bikes, and a multi-purpose hydraulic weight unit. Each cardio machine is equipped with an individually remote-controlled 7-inch LCD TV monitor. An independently owned and operated spa and hair salon within the hotel's shopping area also provides spa services (surcharges). Skydiving and helicopter tours are popular with Las Vegas visitors. House of Lords - One of Las Vegas' oldest steakhouses. Fine dining. Plush booths and cascading waterfalls. Classic steakhouse fare includes bone-in beef rib-eye steak, filet mignon, seafood, and pasta. Adjacent bar serves small plates. Dinner served Monday-Saturday.
NASCAR Café - Two-level restaurant. Features race cars hanging from ceiling; giant projection screens showcasing televised NASCAR races. Menu includes ribs, chicken, steaks, pasta, and burgers. Open from late morning to late evening; extended hours on weekends.
Caravan Coffee Show - Casual dining. Complete steak and prime-rib dinners (limited hours), daily all-you-can-eat specials, sandwiches, snacks, and beverages. Open 24 hours.
The Grind Café - Coffee drinks, pastries, sandwiches, pizzas, hot dogs, and other light fare. Open 24 hours.

The Magic and Tigers of Rick Thomas is showing at the Sahara Theater. Showas are performed Tuesday through Sunday at 7 PM. Matinee performances are also held on Saturdays and Sundays at 4 PM. One of Las Vegas' first true lounges, the Casbar Lounge opened in 1954 and continues to present nightly entertainment from smooth jazz to rock and roll. Complimentary performances nightly. Comprising 85,000 square feet and featuring an enormous glass chandelier and elaborately decorated columns, the Casino offers slots, video poker, blackjack, craps, roulette, keno, a poker room with daily tournaments, and a race and sports book.
Club Sahara offers complimentary membership cards that reward slot play with points to earn cash and comp dollars toward rooms, meals, shows, and services.

Speed - The Ride, a thrilling roller coaster that passes through an underground tunnel, circles the hotel's marquee, stops 224 feet above the ground and then reverses. (Sorry, but as of May 1, 2011 this attraction has been closed indefinitely.)
